Oral candidiasis or thrush is an infection of the mouth caused by the fungus Candida albicans.
It usually manifests itself as white patches on the tongue or inside the cheeks that are detached when rubbing and leaving a red area.
Treatment usually consists of rinsing with an antifungal solution.
Angular cheilitis is a lesion in the corner of the lip that can be infected by fungi. It occurs frequently in the elderly population of older adults who suffer a decrease in the vertical dimension, due to the loss of teeth, which allows the mouth to be excessively closed.
